The Buyer is a key contributor to our dynamic supply chain team, responsible for efficiently managing the procurement of materials, negotiating with suppliers, and implementing strategic production plans. This role combines the skills of a meticulous buyer with the strategic foresight of a planner to ensure optimal inventory levels, on-time delivery, and cost-effective procurement. The Buyer/Planner collaborates cross-functionally, engaging with suppliers, production, and logistics teams to streamline operations and drive continuous improvement. Primary ResponsibilitiesSource and select suppliers/vendors based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery speed.Develop and implement comprehensive production plans to optimize resource utilization and meet production targets.Assess production capacity and adjust plans to accommodate changes in demand, equipment availability, or staffing.Negotiate contracts, terms, and prices with suppliers to secure advantageous terms for the organization.Manage the procurement process, including purchase orders, approvals, and supplier performance evaluations.Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with inventory management to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as production, logistics, and finance to align procurement strategies with operational needs.Assess supplier capabilities and conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality and ethical standards.Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to identify cost-saving opportunities.Utilize historical data and market trends to accurately forecast future demand and plan production schedules accordingly.Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier information.Execute RFQ processes, solicit bids, and evaluate proposals to secure optimal pricing and quality from suppliers.Identify and implement process improvements in production planning and inventory management to enhance overall efficiency. Required Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.3-5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing roles preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Proficiency with MS Office, procurement software and ERP systems for purchasing and inventory management.Have knowledge of technical components and applications.Ability to read and understand technical systems standards and blueprint electrical symbols.Participate in engineering and general design reviews as required.Support the continuous improvement of processes and procedures.Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematics; and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.Manufacturing background with functional/technical experience understanding labor, materials, and manufacturing processesStrong negotiation and contract management skills.Knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics, and inventory control.Understanding of procurement regulations and ethical sourcing practices. Desired Knowledge, Skills & ExperienceMaster's degree or additional certifications in Supply Chain Management or a related field.Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).Experience working with global suppliers and managing international logistics.Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in production planning and supply chain management.Strong analytical skills to assess supplier performance and market trends effectively.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. BenefitsMedical, Dental, and Vision coverage subsidized by SecoEmployer covered term life, short term disability and long-term disability policiesEmployer matching 401kDiscretionary Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, and Paid holidays
